Teach UNDER THE SKY WE MAKE
Our research has shown that high school and university teaching currently misses major pieces essential for climate literacy. Thank you for considering teaching from UNDER THE SKY WE MAKE to help fill that gap!
Here I've gathered some info and resources to support you.
If you're using the book for teaching, I'd love to hear from you! Please get in touch via the contact form at the end of this page, or on social media (links at the bottom of this page).

University teaching
I'm honored that UNDER THE SKY WE MAKE was chosen as the course textbook for the undergraduate course "Climate Change- An Interdisciplinary Perspective" at Stockholm University, summer 2021. Course Responsible: Prof. Alasdair Skelton.
Courses at UCLA, NYU, and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) have included sections of the book.

- Teaching Climate Literacy in High Schools and Universities - Slideshare defining climate literacy and assessing how well it's currently being taught (spoiler alert: badly!!)
- A climate change curriculum based on IPCC synthesis science- our team analyzed the key contents of the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report and distilled them down into a pretty teaching framework. Please use it!

- Open-access peer-reviewed studies on gaps in teaching climate change: See Wynes & Nicholas 2017, ERL, for an analysis showing Canadian high school science textbooks focused on ineffective personal climate actions; and Wynes & Nicholas, 2019, PLOS One, for a study showing that high school education in Canada focuses mostly on the existence of warming, but not its negative impacts, scientific consensus, or solutions.
