LUMES thesis applications 2016
I'm looking for LUMES students interested in focusing on either ecosystem services of wine as part of the OPERAs project, or tradeoffs in European agriculture as part of the Agromes project, for their 2016-2017 thesis.
This is a chance to create your own research within an existing project in a collaborative environment.
Agromes is a new 4-year project sponsored by the Swedish Research Council, led by Kim. The goal is to assess the social, environmental, and economic tradeoffs of land use and agriculture. Particular focus for a master's thesis could be on land-based climate mitigation strategies, case studies of sustainable agriculture, dietary change, or a wide range of other issues. Please read the description on the Agromes page and be creative in coming up with your own proposal to compliment this project!
OPERAs is a 5-year European research project, with 27 research partners from 17 countries. Several LUMES students have participated in writing their theses (see list here). This year, we seek students interested in focusing specifically on the Wine exemplar. Please see this description for more information. Selected students for the OPERAs project will be able to attend the consortium project meeting in Barcelona from June 14-17, 2016.
To apply, please upload the following documents combined as ONE PDF using the form here. Deadline: 17:00, Tuesday May 10.
1. A cover letter (no more than one page) Stating your motivation for application and highlighting any relevant experience.
2. A Recent CV.
3. A LUMES transcript (unofficial is fine).
4. A short (500 word maximum, excluding references) research proposal for conducting the thesis work within the proposed project, consisting of the following:
